While previously working as the finance and operations lead at a DTC brand, Dan Li wrestled with clumsy spreadsheet-based supply chain planning. During business school, Dan was shocked to learn that the beauty and personal care industry holds more than double the ratio of excess inventory compared to other consumer goods, yet also faces high stockout rates. As a result, Dan incubated Shypyard at the Harvard Innovation Lab. Shypyard provides a software platform to help indie beauty brands with supply chain planning, thereby promoting cash-efficient growth and reducing environmental impacts of brands’ supply chain. Outside of his day job, Dan enjoys interviewing and learning from beauty entrepreneurs and executives on his podcast, Behind the Brand.
